Each year, AccorHotels gets thousands of students thinking hard, right around the world, with its Take Off! challenge. What lies in store for participants in 2017? Making JO&JOE addresses an attractive venue for its various communities.

For the last 6 years, AccorHotels has been challenging students from every corner of the globe with various issues connected with the Group’s activities, such as loyalty programs and F&B services. Working in teams of 3, the candidates then give free rein to their creativity... And last time there were over 500 entrants. What passion!

2017: millennials on board

On March, 20, students were able to dive into the new challenge set for them, attracting their attention to one of AccorHotels' new brands… JO&JOE!

This brand which is destined to win Millennials' hearts is perfectly suited to the new expectations of these creative young people...  By reinventing the hospitality experience through the "Open House” concept, the brand is hoping to strike a chord with Townsters (locals) as well as Tripsters (travelers on holiday). And it is the brand's very identity that is the precise challenge that will be put to the students...

How to make JO&JOE a place that is attractive to the local community, bringing together Townsters, Tripsters and the JO&JOE staff team all at the same time?

Take Off! in three key stages

The Take Off! challenge is an endurance test that demands the students' spirit of innovation and motivation. And it does so in three phases:

  • From 20 March, through until 10 April, the students, in their groups of 3, are invited to unveil their project on the Take Off! platform and they will then have from 11 to 23 April to get people talking about their project and thus get as many votes as possible from internet users
  • Out of the 50 teams receiving the most votes, 15 will then be selected by a panel of judges to go forward to the second stage. These semi-finalists must then present their concept in a video, which they will then explain to the members of the panel via Skype on 16 May. A difficult but crucial exercise! At the end of that day, 5 teams will qualify for the Take Off! final.

  • Then, at last, in June the 5 teams will battle it out in the final stage of the competition in Paris. Each group will have to present a unique topic that the panel of judges will allocate to them and that must be kept secret right up until the big day!

Destination: victory!

What's at stake for the winners of the challenge? An unprecedented meeting with Sébastien Bazin, Chairman and CEO of AccorHotels, as well as a stay in one of the Group's best hotels in Europe or Morocco. Lastly, they will stand every chance of seeing their plan deployed at various JO&JOE addresses around the world. What an amazing reward!
