At a time when the sector is seeing growing demand for leisure stays and resorts, our Group - leading hotel operator on this paradise island - welcomes travelers from all over the world in its 21 properties.
Boasting a captivating array of historical attractions, breathtaking seaside destinations and authentic cultural experiences that charm travelers from all over the world, Southeast Asia is a key region for the tourism sector. Before the onset of the health crisis, the region saw a record number of visitors, welcoming 138.6 million tourists (2019). Within this vibrant region, Thailand has welcomed the most visitors for several years, boasting 40 million tourist arrivals in 2019. Our Group holds the leading position in Thailand in the hospitality sector with 88 hotels and resorts (22,000 rooms), and 21 projects in the pipeline.
The road to recovery began this summer, with growing demand recorded for leisure stays within the resort segment. Thailand announced in July that it would begin reopening its borders for vaccinated people, with Phuket offering a dedicated ‘Sandbox’ program allowing people to visit the island without mandatory quarantine. This program is supported by our ALLSAFE cleanliness and prevention label, which ensures impeccable cleaning standards and operational protocols and guarantees safe stays for travelers wishing to discover this exceptional destination. Since 1st November 2021, the wider country has reopened to vaccinated travelers from 63 low-risk countries without the need for quarantine.
Phuket, a key destination for our activity in Thailand with a wealth of attractions
The paradise island of Phuket was closed to international visitors for over a year, allowing nature to regenerate and flourish. For a getaway to a tropical beach with white sand or a visit to the old town steeped in history influenced by Thai, Chinese, Malaysian, Indian and European cultures, Phuket is the ideal starting point to explore the rest of Thailand. Phuket is an island where a diversified presence is a valuable asset, and a key focal point for the development of our Group: The luxurious V Villas Phuket MGallery recently opened its doors in southern Phuket, joined by Pullman Khao Lak Resort and the Grand Mercure Khao Lak Bangsak – both located in a stunning beachside town just 1.5 hours from Phuket.
The gradual reopening of our network and solid pipeline of hotels in Thailand is testament to the confidence that our owner partners have in Accor and the hospitality industry. This is a country with so much to offer and we are certainly in an enviable position to boast the largest portfolio of addresses, which are brought to life by our passionate teams. There has never been a better time to visit this diverse country.
From luxury to economy, for leisure or business, with family or friends, in the old town or by the beach, our wide collection of 21 hotels & resorts across 7 different brands have been welcoming guests back to Phuket since July. Each brand has its own unique character and offers a variety of experiences to meet the needs of every traveler.
