Would you rather dip your toes in the ocean waters off Copacabana beach or take tea in a hotel with an English cottage feel? Or maybe you’d be more tempted with a journey back in time to the samurai era, or a Jacuzzi in the heart of Dubai’s sea of skyscrapers? Name it, we have it! With our vast portfolio of brands, we have a hotel to suit all tastes. Here’s a look back at some of our 2019 openings.

Throughout the year, our Group grew and thrived under the influence of its new premium identity. With 1 hotel opening every 29 hours, we strengthened our presence all over the world. As the year winds down, we therefore invite you to relive some of the most significant hotel openings of 2019: 10 to be precise, because if we had to mention them all, you would not see the end of this list!

greet hôtel Beaune (France)

Does this name ring a bell? greet is our Group's new brand, close to people and the environment. Its launch in 2019 was followed by the opening of its first property in the heart of Burgundy: the greet hotel Beaune, in April. With a green park as its surroundings, the hotel offers many activities in a warm and unique atmosphere: outdoor swimming pool, tennis table, pétanque court and outdoor playground... Its special features? The hotel's materials, furniture and accessories have been recycled or reused to give them a second life! The eco-friendly brand does everything in its power to protect the environment, by sourcing local and organic food products or goods. A wheel as a table foot, vintage frames on the bedheads, jars of all kinds used as vases, wheelbarrow diverted to a coffee table... Modern circular economy tricks follow one another from the lobby to the 52 rooms of the greet hotel Beaune!  We'll see you there.

Kyoto Yura Hotel – MGallery (Japan)

Rendez-vous in Kyoto, the heart and soul of traditional Japan, to discover a unique MGallery Hotel Collection property. The Kyoto Yura Hotel opened its doors last April. A major milestone for the brand since it is MGallery’s 1st hotel in Japan! This high-end property made a remarkable arrival, promising guests a journey back in time, at the crossroads of modern Japan and the legendary Samurai era. Its walls and design are imbued with the traditions of Kyoto, a clever blend of art and heritage that pays tribute to local culture. Its 144 contemporary rooms feature local Nishijin-ori fabric to celebrate weaving heritage dating back over 1,200 years, as well as tatamis in the seating area. The famous geisha district, the Gion sanctuary and the Kawaramachi shopping district are only a few steps from the Kyoto Yura Hotel. Complete immersion guaranteed!

ibis Tallinn Center (Estonia)

In 2018, ibis reinvented itself to offer even more flexible spaces with new design concepts. In June 2019, the modular approach of one of its designs came to life within the walls of the ibis Tallinn Centerthe first hotel to feature the brand's new hospitality experience. The result: a "home-like" atmosphere, 190 personalized and evolving rooms, a life-hub to meet and attend concerts... All in a modern and urban design mixing bricks, wood and metals, ideal for encounters and new vibrant experiences. To go even further and delight its guests, ibis has also launched new catering concepts. Charlie's Corner, a beer bar where the offer changes from day–to-day, is one of them and proudly sits right in the heart of the hotel. To spend a moment with friends or to relax after a long day, its "Beer Wall" and its wide choice of international beers will not fail to seduce you. 

Pullman Maldives Maamutaa Resort (Maldives)

18 hectares of lush tropical flora and fauna, 122 decadent villas including 2 Aqua Villas featuring bedrooms submerged beneath the turquoise waters of the lagoon, 26 dive sites where you can spot up to 13 species of sharks… Welcome to the all-inclusive Pullman Maldives Maamutaa Resort! This idyllic property opened its doors - or rather its white sandy beaches - in September 2019. In the heart of the Gaafu Alifu Atoll, it offers an enchanting setting between a natural lake and sun-kissed beaches. While staying there, you can enjoy the benefits of the invigorating sea air and become one with nature, especially with the outdoor sports activities offered by the hotel, usually followed by a visit to the Spa by Phytomer. Raffles Singapore (Singapore)

A reopening that heralds a new era of unparalleled luxury! Since August 1st, and following carefully designed renovations to preserve its unique historic charm, the Raffles Singapore welcomes you back to the heart of the city. A perfect location near Marina Bay, City Hall and Chinatown, and a luxurious cocoon sheltered from the dynamic rhythm of the city. The Raffles Singapore was the brand's 1st address in 1887 and has built on a legendary service and heritage since its initial opening.

Its 115 suites divided into 9 categories are not the only wonders offered by the hotel! Gastronomy is also honored in its restaurants and bars thanks to collaborations with famous Chefs: Chef Anne-Sophie Pic, of the Maison Pic de Valence, a French 3-star Michelin star, Chef Alain Ducasse, or Jereme Leung, known for his innovative Chinese cuisine. As you will have understood, the Raffles Singapore is a timeless destination where history, luxury & gastronomy meet.

Mama Shelter London (United Kingdom)

Big Ben should lookout… Mama has arrived in London! The Mama Shelter London has been charming its visitors since its opening in October 2019 and has already established itself as a must-see in the city. Looking like a British cottage, the hotel has adorned itself with its most beautiful lace placemats, macramé suspensions, wooden and velvet interiors to immerse you in its universe - all with unmatched comfort and high-tech equipment. A world that extends into its 194 rooms designed by the famous interior designers Dion and Arles, its 480m2 dining area offering delicious dishes prepared with love, its spacious patio... To discover this new jewel of the capital, go to the heart of Greater London in the East London district. Mama is waiting for you.

Novotel Bur Dubai (Middle East)

Feel like relaxing in an outdoor Jacuzzi surrounded by Dubai's skyscrapers? The Novotel Bur Dubai is the only property in the United Arab Emirates to offer this experience. Opened in August 2019, it is also the only midscale hotel in the Healthcare City district. A quiet location sheltered from the hustle and bustle of the city, yet so close to its most beautiful tourist activities... This peaceful atmosphere is also found within its walls! Its 219 rooms and suites feature a fresh and bright design for a relaxing stay. To extend your moments of relaxation, head to the rooftop bar to enjoy a cocktail by the pool while enjoying breathtaking views of Dubai's ultra-modern skyline. A few floors further down, the Gourmet Bar serves as a lounge and a casual restaurant. To complete its delicious Food & Beverage offer, the hotel's Food Exchange restaurants serve up international favorites.

Sofitel Rome Villa Borghese (Italy) 

Overlooking the gardens of the Villa Borghese to which it owes its name, this hotel has settled in a former 19th century palace in the heart of Rome. The Trevi fountain, the Villa Médicis or the Staircase of the Trinité-des-Monts... Monuments rich in history only a few steps from the property! But beware: once you are settled, you will no longer want to leave the Sofitel Rome Villa Borghese. With its rooftop restaurant and cocktail bar, it offers you a breathtaking view of the city's ochre roofs. For the renovation of this renowned hotel, the famous architect Jean-Philippe Nuel has imbued its walls with the essence of the picturesque capital while combining it with Sofitel's unique excellence and “art de vivre”. JO&JOE Paris Gentilly (France)

Attention "Townster" (local residents) and "Tripster" (travelers): the new lifestyle place to be opened its doors last April! Its name? The  JO&JOE Paris GentillyThe Open House has been designed to be open to the outside world, as a real invitation to discover its living space at the crossroads of the youth hostel and the hotel. "Together", "Yours" or "Cabins", you have to choose! These 3 categories of accommodation are offered among its 485 beds: private rooms to share with friends, private rooms for 2 or 3 people, and finally an individual space with access to a bathroom and shared toilets. This new Open House is a welcome addition to the brand's first born in 2017, the  JO&JOE Hossegor (France) – a haven for surfers and millennials!

Fairmont Rio de Janeiro Copacabana (Brazil)

« At the copa (co) Copacabana (Copacabana) »… Barry Manilow sang it, Fairmont moved in! This past August, the luxury brand opened its first property in South America - Fairmont Rio de Janeiro Copacabana - along one of the world’s most famous beaches. Inspired by the glamorous carioca of the 1950s, the hotel has been designed to welcome you with an unparalleled feeling of comfort and quality, all under the majestic gaze of the Pão de Açúcar. At sunset, the turquoise water of its swimming pool becomes one with the horizon and offers you a picture worthy of the greatest Brazilian artists.
