Tools & Reporting

Measuring our Impact to Future-proof our Business

We bring a wide range of sustainability solutions, performance tracking tools and operational expertise, supporting and accompanying our hotels, owners and partners to optimize their performance and sustainable management. Measuring our impact efficiently is crucial to go further in achieving our collective goals, and inspire solid sustainable change.

Aware of the importance of leveraging robust data to steer a lasting sustainable transformation, as we cannot improve what we don’t measure, we work with valued partners to develop and implement reliable tools, strategies and protocols to serve our hotel owners and teams, and provide them with high-performance tracking tools allowing them to monitor their actions and impact.

Our ambition is to measure our progress in several key areas of focus, from our Group’s carbon emissions and energy consumption to food waste and elimination of single-use plastics.

The Tools Helping Drive our Sustainable Strategy Forward

We have long built on our expertise setting up tailored tools to measure and accompany hotel operations, including “Gaïa” – an online reporting tool for hotels to facilitate measuring and monitoring performance on energy, water and waste, including carbon footprint, to help hotels manage their sustainability actions and optimize costs for owners, to address stakeholder needs.

We continually upgrade the tools we use to ensure for all of our stakeholders, the most reliable and efficient data collection process, as well as the management and optimization of performances.

Evaluating our Performance with Best-in-Class External Certifications

We also aim to align our hotels with shared standards and practices in order to facilitate the recognition of sustainable practices and accompany our sustainability transformation. We work with third-party sustainability certifications and accredited experts whose standards are recognized by the GSTC (Global Sustainable Tourism Council), supporting hotels in obtaining best-in-class certifications for sustainable operations, such as Green Key and Green Globe, recognizing the value of independent assessments to evaluate our progress. For example, Mövenpick hotels are among our leading sustainability-certified hotels: the brand has a long standing partnership with Green Globe, with more than 75% of its hotels with gold or platinum status.

Additionally, Accor is continuing its work with online travel agencies, notably Booking.com and HRS, to define and reinforce the criteria defining the sustainable hotel industry of tomorrow.

Formalizing Our Foundations: Our Ethics & CSR Charter

Our Code of Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility is a clear set of guidelines that provides the framework for our approach to responsibility in terms of management ethics, integrity and legal compliance as well as our responsibilities to our teams, society and the environment.

As well as a guide, the charter is a crucial tool for our partners and ecosystem to apply sustainable and responsible practices. It also helps us to shape and ensure that our stakeholders fit with our policies and are playing their role for a more positive hospitality.
