On October 4th, 1883, the most luxurious train in the world left Paris’ Gare de l’Est, reaching Constantinople in less than 76 hours. It was a veritable “rolling palace” – splendid décor, exceptionally crafted, opulence defined. The Orient-Express.
Today, the essence of this storied experience is revived by the La Dolce Vita Orient Express, voyaging through Italy. From 2026, travelers will be able to relive the original Orient Express voyage aboard 17 meticulously restored cars dating back to the 1920s and ‘30s.

In 1894, 11 years after the launch of the first Orient-Express, Georges Nagelmackers founded the Compagnie Internationale des Grands Hôtels. Inspired by the legend and the luxury of the trains, palaces embodying Orient-Express style were built along the train’s itinerary.
Today the story continues, with the first new Orient Express hotel opening in the Eternal City, Rome – a fitting inauguration for a timeless brand – followed by a sumptuous palazzo in Venice.
