Our Culture of Inclusion

CULTIVATING PLACES WHERE EVERYONE THRIVES

Celebrating difference. Creating connection.

Welcoming with open arms is part of our DNA. We cultivate a culture of inclusion because it is profoundly a part of our purpose and who we are, and because we recognize that diversity creates authentic human connections and drives innovation. By striving to prevent inequalities and discrimination; ensuring fair, safe, and equitable opportunities for personal and professional development; welcoming all guests with genuine warmth; and promoting community inclusion, we work towards a world where everyone belongs and thrives.

Driving Change Through Four Priorities

We champion diversity and inclusion through purposeful initiatives in four key areas

Fostering Equality and Empowerment

Driving real change. We strive to create a more inclusive workplace and act to fight gender-based discrimination and violence. Ever since our pioneering gender equality charter was created in 1970, we have been committed to closing the gender gap at Accor by ensuring pay parity and promoting equal opportunities.

Our internal network RiiSE unites 20,000+ Heartists® across five continents, playing a key role in raising awareness and empowering our teams. We engage with associations and organizations to support women around the world, and to mobilize against discrimination, harassment and violence through global and local programs, from emergency shelter to skills training.

OUR COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

IN ACTION

In the Boardroom and Beyond

We champion gender equality at every level – from executive leadership to collaborative international action. We set clear objectives for clear representation in leadership positions, and achieved our objective of 45% women in Senior Leadership Management Committee positions by 2025.

In 2021, we became co-leader of the Generation Equality Action Coalition on Gender-based Violence convened by UN Women, made up of member states, businesses, international and philanthropic organizations working together to accelerate gender equality.

Learning from Our Differences

Catalyst for inclusion. We work to raise awareness of disability, provide meaningful employment, and welcome guests with disabilities. We innovate solutions that transform experiences for both Heartists® and guests, for example through our pioneering Smart Room concept of inclusive hotel room design, and we train our teams to remove barriers and challenge stigma, building a culture where everyone flourishes.

As a signatory of the ILO Global Business and Disability Charter, we actively work towards the prevention of discrimination, wherever we are present across the world. We took our commitment a step further by joining the Valuable 500 in 2021, explicitly adding the inclusion of people with disabilities as a goal in our roadmap.

Paralympic Partnership, Lasting Impact

As Premium Partner of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, we seized the opportunity to celebrate achievement, foster understanding, and accelerate social change.

Through France's Tourisme & Handicap certification process, we enhanced accessibility across our hotels with over 550 hotels in host locations certified or self-assessed.

Social, Ethnic, Racial, and Cultural Diversity

Real-life community impact. As a major global employer, we champion social, ethnic, racial, and cultural diversity as drivers of innovation and authentic connection. Rooted in local communities, we fulfill real needs of our teams and the communities around us – providing access to jobs, training, and mentoring that make hospitality a true social elevator.

Around the world, our teams launch and lead initiatives to meet the challenges and priorities of each region, from country-specific talent pools to refugee inclusion and local partnerships to build community connections.

In Australia, our long-standing Indigenous Careers Program was a first in the local hospitality industry, with over 600 valued Indigenous team members recruited across our network.

Welcoming and Celebrating Authenticity

Open arms, open mindset. We champion LGBTQI+ rights in the workplace and beyond, aiming to lead the way in LGBTQI+ inclusion. Our comprehensive initiatives support team members through their careers – from parental leave to gender affirmation policies – while creating welcoming experiences for our LGBTQI+ guests worldwide. We boost awareness and recognition among our teams, guests and communities through active participation in pride marches, roundtable discussions, and partnerships with local organizations.

As a platinum partner of IGLTA, the International LGBTQI+ Travel Association, we're driving inclusive tourism globally, ensuring our industry is a place where rights are supported, everyone feels safe and valued, and authenticity is celebrated.
