Welcoming others, giving recognition, drawing on their differences and valuing them: those principles are rooted in our DNA! We celebrate individuality, encourage creativity and reward agility.
As World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development approaches on May 21, Accor celebrates diversity and inclusion. The opportunity to remind our values of inclusion, equal opportunities and our fight against all forms of discrimination.
With 280,000 employees in all four corners of the globe, diversity is a daily reality for our Group. World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development is the perfect occasion for us to value and celebrate diversity and inclusion.
Our Diversity ambition is structured around four priorities: gender diversity and equality, multi-generational synergy, the integration of people with disabilities and the breadth of ethnic, social and cultural origins.
Gender equality
Conscious of gender and diversity challenges, we are committed to actively promoting women and young people to management positions in both headquarters and hotels. In 2018, 35% of general managers were women (scope subsidiaries, franchisees, managed).
In 2015, Accor joined HeForShe – a solidarity movement for gender equality initiated by UN Women, to ensure that actions to foster gender equality are driven by both women and men. For 4 years now, Accor has been Impact 10x10x10 champion among 9 other companies (PWC International Limited, McKinsey & Company, Schneider Electric, Barclays, Koç Holding, Unilever, Electronic Arts, Vodafone) and represents this movement internationally!
The integration of people with disabilities
Accor is a pioneering member of the ILO Global Business and Disability Network. Launched in June 2011, this United Nations initiative brings together multinational companies committed to including people with disabilities in the workplace. We particularly mobilize our employees to promote the integration of people with disabilities during two major events each year: the International Day of Persons with Disabilities and the Duoday.
In december, we celebrate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities around the world! In 2018, we focused on invisible disabilities. Events and workshops were organized in hotels and at Group headquarters and we launched a worldwide photo competition on the same topic.
During the DuoDay (May 16th, 2019), volunteers Group employees have the opportunity to work in pairs with people with disabilities all over the world! All regions are invited to participate in this day to allow these people to discover support professions / operations within our Group.
The objective? To meet, create vocations but also to generate opportunities for future collaborations.
Multi-generational synergy
In 2017, we launched a pilot intergenerational program. The principle: two-person teams consisting of a “Smart Digit”, who is passionate about new trends and digital technologies, and a “Smart Leader”, who lives the Accor culture on a daily basis and wishes to share his professional experience, share their respective knowledge between them.
Following the good results of the pilot, the Group launched a digital platform called Co-mentoring in February 2018, with the goal of rolling out the program worldwide. At the end of 2018, there were more than 900 users across the world!
Cultural diversity
Since 2017, we make every effort to promote diversity and fight against discrimination, particularly in France At end-2018, a large part of the action plan defined by the Group had been implemented: awareness-raising sessions, set-up of a whistleblowing system on our recruitment website, creation of a practical guide and pocket leaflet on recruitment without discrimination, creation of an e-learning course …
As you will have understood.... Promoting diversity and inclusion is a lever of performance, innovation and development for our Group. It’s a long-standing and proactive approach, one of the founding principles of managerial ethics to fight against discrimination and for equal rights in the company.
Let's celebrate diversity and inclusion together!
