Our Group has already taken several initiatives to encourage and offer healthy, sustainable and waste-free food in its hotels and now it is going one step further by joining the "Pour une Agriculture du Vivant" ("For a Living Agriculture ") movement. Its aim is to feed mankind by feeding the soil.
The agricultural and food transition is underway and farmers are joining forces to change their practices to include agro-ecology. "Pour une Agriculture du Vivant" ("For a Living Agriculture ") aims to speed up this movement and take it to a new level. How? By consolidating its agronomic bases and adapting the culture of all stakeholders to this new paradigm. Farmers, partners, and players in the food chain are joining this initiative in increasing numbers and AccorHotels is one of them.
Healthy and sustainable food has a future
Our Group has shown its clear and sustainable commitment over the past 2 years with its Healthy and Sustainable Food Charter and wants to offer a wide range of products derived from agro-ecology in all its restaurants in the future. Let’s not forget, AccorHotels are not just hotels! They also have 8,000 restaurants and bars all over the world. To reduce its environmental impact, AccorHotels is committed to offering its customers healthy high-quality food while fighting food waste and supporting sustainable food models through its supply chain.
With this in mind, Sofitel, MGallery and Pullman recently undertook to offer guests 100% organically grown fresh fruit and vegetables.
Our Chefs are also getting involved and multiplying their efforts. For example, Chef Thomas Bruno at the Sofitel Paris Arc de Triomphe always prefers to use fresh environmentally-friendly products and personally chooses his suppliers. Chef Michael Penn of Novotel London West also selects his local producers and his farms with care and goes to get his cheese, meat and truffles himself!
Agroecology… and agroforestry!
In 2016, AccorHotels launched the 1st national agroforestery contest – Arbres d’Avenir – in partnership with the PUR project and Fermes d’Avenir in support of the agro-ecologic transition in France. Today the 3rd edition is in full swing and the winners will be announced in December. By helping French farmers and breeders to introduce or re-introduce trees on their land, AccorHotels widens its commitment to new agricultural models.
